Hey Blog Squad!
So heres whats up, to help develop in what direction I should send the plot for my project I tried out originally making a list with mise en scene elements I liked; to see if I could identify a genre that would most likely incorporate such elements. Observing that I jotted down things like long skirts, candles, colorful lighting, glitter, nature, along with emotions of peculiarity, and independence, and confusion; all had me thinking I should try out making something in fantasy. I decided to do some genre research even though I was practically convinced I would stick with the fantasy genre. I wanted to do a lil research on key elements incorporated in genres horror, romance, fantasy, sci-fi, drama, and mystery. Although I was set on the fantasy idea I didn't want to shut my options to other genres just yet, and thankfully I didn't because to my surprise I discovered that my ideas resonated more with the Sci-Fi genre. Never would've expected that. Originally to my knowledge Sci-Fi was all about aliens and scientist, which I wasn't really about that life. In my research I learned Sci-Fi can also be all sorts of things of peculiarity and the unexplainable, immediately drawing my interest.
Something quite unfortunate has occurred. I seem to have... how do I say this... miss placed! or in other words lost if you wanna be more brutal with it. My... DEEP BREATH IN, DEEP BREATH OUT, genre research paper. which yes, quite unfortunate (for me).
PRO SIDE: I got the realization to try out making something in the Sci-Fi genre. I'm not planing on re-writing my multi genre research, because of the fact that I already discovered I want to do Sci-Fi, and the reason for me making that multi genre research was to help me figure what genre I should focus on. Now Instead I will focusing on Sci-Fi and learning more about the genre.
This morning My teacher Mrs. Stoklosa manages to shine rays of light through my window. While I’m in bed her light gleaming on my eyelids softly and kindly manages to finally wake me from the comfort of dreaming. The Comfort of living in ones mind and closing the curtains on reality.
Now I am waking up, simultaneously exiting level dreaming, and entering level reality. Luckily, on this reality level I still hold all the memories of what I experienced, learned, and enjoyed while stuck on level dream. As I step out of bed now fully awake, I can take action; work towards, write down, organize, plan, and research, on how to make this dream I have come to life. I have jotted down things write about and research
Im lost; Not nervous, but lost. Lost in what feels like a deep sea of different ideas with a strong current of endless possibilities. I have been stuck in this strong ocean current for a little over the past week, having me admire and observe all kinds of colorful fishes, bump into new engaging corals, and stumble across different shores all across the genres from Horror, to romance. theres multiple plot ideas ive come across and would really like to do, not knowing which one I like more. To make it more difficult I have Ideas I want to do of different plots, storys, editing styles, and mis-en-scene elements I'd love to incorporate for my film openings engagement. Until I remember... Its an opening, ONE opening, TWO minutes. I'm drowning in possibilities that I have to cut down and decide, which has me at a pause. As I witness the ocean floor grows deeper, and deeper so does this fear of being unsatisfied with myself, due from this indecisiveness. Endless ideas and indecisiveness can lead me into feeling overwhelmed and picking a story that unsatisfied me with myself if I find it boring. I need to try and be more productive with my progress without feeling as Im limiting my ideas, or slopping something down cause I couldn't decide.
A grand strategy that helps me clear my brain is just joting down all my ideas and by looking at it all on paper cross my fingers a clearer vision forms. Much like my ideas my notes are also all over the place from different potential location I find cool, genres, plots, characters, mis-en-scene, things I like transition, title, and aesthetic ideas.
Design, colors, shots, makeup, Is circling in my mind right now. I'm feeling super excited for this project, and honestly the fact that I have literally no idea what I want to do because of the fact that theres so much I would love to do. Im a big fan of anything that has to do with a chaos of color, maximalism, that give off a sense of surrealism due to its abstract beauty. I decided I want to take on this project on myself because I want to produce something that will feel special to me. How will this be special to me? I have no idea, but that adds to the excitement of what may come. Getting distracted, zoning out, loosing track of time, and having structure are all qualities that we can say are not really my best, and working with a partner always helps me stay on track. Although working with someone may help me be productive, I want to challenge myself with improving these abilities in the production of this project. Adding on, working on my own will allow full creative freedom and the opportunity to make it more personal. Lets see what happens...
In class we have discussed the importance of mis-en-scene to make our film opening engaging which is what I am most excited for. As well as genre and the different type of film openings we can come across. At the moment I'm most interested in doing an establish background opening. Still massively debating on genre but I am leaning towards Horror, Romance, or/and Fantasy. Im thinking about trying to create something kind of weird and disturbing yet play around with mis-en-scene to make it so visually engaging by how pretty it looks that you cant stop watching.
The Brand my group came up with for the Music Marketing project is Rayn. The process for us to have come up with Rayn consisted of communication, organization, creative decisions and research. For starters we were assigned to work with the song send my love (to your new lover) by Adele. Now that we knew we were working with a pop song we did research on this music genre, this research was crucial for our brand development when coming up with Things such as target audience, distribution plans and more. We learned that most pop artists all have a face to the brand, so we decided to pick one of our team members, specifically Corina, for Rayn.
When coming up with the name for our brand we were going back and forth with many ideas until we agree amongst Rayn. We chose this name because it sounds like rain, which in people's brains is associated with blue, and we thought it would be a cool idea to form a brand associated with blue. We constructed a PowerPoint full of information for rains brand development. When it came to everyone's roles in developing our project, we all worked together very well. Lucia did the editing for our music video. Well, Gordy. Provided her house and worked on PowerPoint. Then. Andrea and I did most of the PowerPoint. But Corina and Lucia still contributed a lot. we all worked extremely well together and became genuine friends which was the best part
To produce our music video, the most complex part was being able for all our team members to meet up, due to all our very different social lives outside of school. Producing our music video was a fun creative experience when deciding what to shoot. We originally wanted to do a story music video with a man and a woman relationship, but we couldn't end up getting a guy in time for our production. Due to this, we scrapped the story idea and just did more of a promo music video, which was still a success. This project taught me how to develop a campaign plan to create a successful brand. When I come across having to create my Cambridge portfolio, this project. helps because it's taught me how to organize my information and do research on what it is that I'm really working with, along with experience on what it like to create a type of story.
